Canon's 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens

After hanging out with my buddy Kris and using his 50mm f/1.8 lens, I decided to purchase one myself.  I purchased the Canon 50mm f/1.8 STM lens from, and let me tell you, I am not disappointed.   The clarity of the pictures are incredible.  The STM works great, and the mechanized sound is very quiet and does not bleed over into the audio that you’re recording.

The only downside that I have found so far is the time the lens takes to actually focus. It’s not immediate, but when it does focus…. WOW!  Almost too good, especially if you’re looking at my ugly mug on video.  Check out what I mean in the video below.

Overall, I’m very impressed with this lens.  My buddy Kris has the older version of this lens, and we’ll do a comparison video of the two soon.

I was helping a friend with her beading hobby and took a few photos for her with the new lens, kind of as a test run of the lens.  This was an impromptu shot at work with no lighting or backdrops, and man… Well, I’ll just let you see what I’m talking about.

So, If you’re into photography and you don’t already have this lens, do yourself a favor and look into it.

Check out the video below, and let us know what you think.
