I bought the Indy 8 foot camera Jib from Amazon.com and after it arrived, much to my chargrin, I realized that the current tripod that I had was not sturdy enough to hold it.
So I went in search of a reasonably priced, heavy duty tripod that would hold the jib. I came across Ravelli’s AVTP Tripod on Amazon.com. I know, by now, you probably think I must be getting paid by Amazon, but I assure you, I’m not. They just happen to be very convenient while being overseas.
The tripod boasts a fluid head, and compared to the other cheap tripods that I’ve used, it works very well. It’s not a top of the line fluid head, but hey, I’m on a budget. It came with 2 lens cloths and a keychain light.
The tripod is a little over 10 pounds but extremely sturdy. The design is solid and I really like the locking nuts on the legs. The one thing that I don’t really care for is that the head doesn’t completely lock. You can add resistance to it, but it doesn’t lock fully. One could also consider the weight of the tripod a negative, but it is definitely more stable with the added weight. Check out the video of the unboxing and let us know what you think.
